DHC Capital supports INSOL International on training programme on insolvency and restructuring for the Brunei courts and legal and regulatory bodies in Brunei
DHC Capital supported INSOL International on the “Insolvency Training Programme for the Brunei Courts, the Attorney General’s Chamber, the Law Society, Banks and Financial Regulators”.
The three-day online training programme covered topics ranging from current trends and practice in insolvency and restructuring and cross border challenges, MSME insolvency and restructuring and personal insolvency.
The training programme commenced on 8 September 2022 with opening remarks made by The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong and the Honourable Justice Kannan Ramesh, Judge of the High Court, Supreme Court of Singapore, Judicial Commission, Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam.
The training programme featured international speakers from the Supreme Court of Singapore, the Insolvency and Public Trustee’s Office of Singapore (“IPTO”), the Australian Financial Security Authority (“AFSA”), INSOL International, Singapore Management University, the World Bank, the Ministry of Law of Singapore and DHC Capital.
Participants of the training programme comprised of justices, judges and judicial officers from the Brunei Judiciary, officers from the Attorney General’s Chambers and Prime Minister’s Office, members of the Law Society, representatives from various government ministries and departments, banks, financial institutions and regulators.
David Chew, Partner at DHC Capital presented on day three of the training programme on 29 September 2022 on the Singapore Simplified Insolvency Programme (“SIP”), including the Simplified Debt Restructuring Programme and the Simplified Winding Up Programme.
